Club Statement | Will White

Eagles
23 Mar

On Monday (21st March) it was brought to the Committee’s attention that a series of allegations had been made against Head Coach Will White, associated with his business dealings.

Following lengthy discussions with those involved, the Committee and Will agree that it would be in the best interests of all parties for him to step away from all team-related activities for the foreseeable future, until such time as these issues are resolved.

While it is important to stress that Will denies any wrongdoing, the focus of the Club needs to be on preparing for the new season, and with that in mind Darren Hill has been named Interim Head Coach.

There will be no further statements from the Club at this time.

Hubbard vs White: The Results

08 Dec

In our most recent Head to Head of the season Wide Receiver Ross Hubbard took on Head Coach Will White. Here’s how they got on…

Packers 27 Lions 23

HUBBARD: A harder pick than this would have been pre-Thanksgiving. The Packers are on the slide and the Lions are looking for their fourth straight win. Can Rodgers break the slump and galvanize the Packers season on TNF? Going with the team on a streak (god I hope #81 is not injured), Lions to Win!
RESULT: Right up until the final seconds this looked an inspired choice, but then *that* play happened. 0-1.

WHITE: Pack over Lions by two scores, the Lions are struggling.
RESULT: It was the Pack that struggled for long periods, and in the end it took one of the most ridiculous plays in NFL history to take it, but a win’s a win and coach starts off 1-0.

Texans 21 Bills 30

HUBBARD: The Bills haven’t beaten the Texans since 2006 (thanks Google!) so JJ Watt and Co. to terrorize Tyrod Taylor and get their fifth win in a row. Texans to win!
RESULT: The Bills keep themselves in contention with their first win over Houston in nine years (thanks Ross!). 0-2.

WHITE: Texans over Bills. I’m not a Rex Ryan fan, he’s too damn cocky.
RESULT: You can never count Rex Ryan out, unless he’s playing the Patriots. Which he wasn’t. 1-1.

49ers 26 Bears 20

HUBBARD: The Bears have an awful home record this year. Fortunately they are playing the 49ers, who are even worse on the road. Bears to win!
RESULT: Oh Ross, this hasn’t started well for you has it? 0-3.

WHITE: Bears over 49ers, the Niners suck.
RESULT: The Niners do indeed suck, but they still managed to make Blaine Gabbert look like Joe Montana. 1-2.

Bengals 37 Browns 3

HUBBARD: The Browns lost as only the Browns can against the Ravens (though this was a bit close to home, where have I seen this before!). Austin Davis will not be anywhere near as good as last week, there’s a lot more pressure when starting. Bengals to win!
RESULT: The Bengals didn’t so much as win, they battered the terrible Browns. 1-3.

WHITE: Bengals over Browns with Cleveland having QB issues.
RESULT: It’s not only at QB that the Browns have issues. Still, It’d be unlike them to waste their early first round pick next year…2-2.

Ravens 13 Dolphins 15

HUBBARD: The Ravens are my team and it has been painful to watch them this year. They have found a way to lose their games, never pulling away when in the lead! Their luck changed against the Browns and are 5-0 against Miami since 2007. Ravens win!
RESULT: You have to admire him for sticking with his team even though they’re terrible this year, but it doesn’t serve him well here. 1-4.

WHITE: Dolphins over a banged-up Ravens team with too many injuries.
RESULT: Jackpot. 3-2.

Jets 23 Giants 20

HUBBARD: Apparently the Jets haven’t beaten the Giants in the regular season since 1993, who knew! Jets to win.
RESULT: The Jets win, and keep themselves in with a fighting chance of making the post-season. 2-4.

WHITE: Jets over the Giants as I dislike Manning and his Smurfs.
RESULT: You can’t argue with the reasoning. 4-2.

Cardinals 27 Rams 3

HUBBARD: Probably the easiest pick of the week. Cardinals to stack the box against Todd Gurley as he is the St Louis offense currently, and let #21 & #32 pick the recently-promoted Case Keenum all day long. Cardinals to win!
RESULT: Not much more to say is there? 3-4.

WHITE: Cardinals over the Rams – the Cards offense has too much for St Louis.
RESULT: They sure did. 5-2.

Falcons 19 Buccaneers 23

HUBBARD: This is a big showdown in the NFC South. Atlanta had a player’s only team meeting this week and I have seen enough American Sports films to know that as a result of this they cannot lose…I never understand why teams don’t get together every week and talk about not losing. Buccaneers to win!
RESULT: Ross is back to .500, just like these two teams! 4-4.

WHITE: Falcons over the Bucs as they look to get back on track.
RESULT: Lose! 5-3.

Jaguars 39 Titans 42

HUBBARD: This was close when they last played and the Titans let a win slip out of their hands. Titans to win!
RESULT: It’s a well known fact (honest) that when two bad teams play together it always results in a classic, and this was no different. 5-4.

WHITE: Jags over the Titans in the battle of bad teams.
RESULT: He backed the wrong horse and we’re now tied at 5-4.

Chiefs 34 Raiders 20

HUBBARD: This is risky as OC/Chairman Neale is a Raiders fan (I think – he wears a cap all the time) but I can’t see them beating the Chiefs. Chiefs to win!
RESULT: Spot on, and Ross is on a roll. 6-4.

WHITE: Raiders over a banged-up Chiefs side.
RESULT: Will’s also on a roll, but he’s going backwards. 5-5.

Broncos 17 Chargers 3

HUBBARD: Brock Osweiler is 2-0 since replacing Peyton and has knocked off Brady’s unbeaten Patriots. Only sign of hope for the Chargers is Ware will probably miss this week’s game and there could be a come down after a big win over the Pats. Broncos to win!
RESULT: There’s no stopping him. 7-4.

WHITE: Broncos over the Chargers, the Broncos defense will be too much.
RESULT: Will’s staying in touch but the damage has already been done. 6-5.

Eagles 35 Patriots 28

HUBBARD: Tom Brady to avenge their loss against Denver by throwing 5 TDs and that’s without Gronk. The Eagles defence has been like a sieve the last few weeks and the Pats aren’t the team to be playing after they’ve lost with a bad defence. Patriots to Win!
RESULT: Nobody saw this coming, so we’ll allow Ross a slip. 7-5.

WHITE: Pats over the Eagles. Brady gets the boys back on track against a poor Philly team.
RESULT: Likewise. 6-6.

Panthers 41 Saints 38

HUBBARD: Now that TB12 is no longer undefeated does that make Cam the #1 MVP contender? The Panthers get more impressive every week and with Superman at QB and Clark Kent on defence (Luke Kuechly, look him up) at the moment they arguably have the best Offensive and Defensive player playing on the same team. Panthers to win!
RESULT: I was pretty sure the Panthers were done for in this one, but they keep the record going. 8-5.

WHITE: Panthers over the Saints as they continue their run towards an undefeated season.
RESULT: Yep. 7-6.

Seahawks 38 Vikings 7

HUBBARD: The Vikings are at home and atop the NFC North but with Seattle now 6-5 and on a real hot streak, I’m going to take a risk and go with Seattle to steal one on the road. Seahawks to win, narrowly!
RESULT: I don’t know what he was worried about! 9-5.

WHITE: Seahawks over the Vikes in a tight one fighting for a play-off spot.
RESULT: Well it sure as heck wasn’t tight, but 8-6.

Colts 10 Steelers 45

HUBBARD: The big question is whether Big Ben will play (he was fully participating in practice Thursday) as I think the Colts would win if Landry Jones plays most of this game. Steelers to win!
RESULT: Big Ben played alright, to the tune of 364 yards passing and 4 TDs. Ross moves to 10-5.

WHITE: Steelers win a tight one over a surging Colts team.
RESULT: Well that wasn’t tight either. 9-6.

Cowboys 19 Redskins 16

HUBBARD: No Romo no wins, simple as that really. QBs are important, who knew? Redskins to Win!
RESULT: It wasn’t a classic and Ross called it wrong, but he still wins this week and finishes 10-6.

WHITE: Redskins keep their winning streak going against a weak Cowboys team that has no Romo.
RESULT: Coach also calls it wrong and finishes. 9-7.

Standings

As a result of this week’s scores the Players have again extended their lead over the Coaches and Staff, and now lead 103-72 to 96-79. Be sure to check back on Thursday for this week’s predictions.

Coach White on the Rookie Sessions

12 Oct

Eagles Head Coach Will White says he is very happy with what he has seen at the team’s rookie sessions so far this month.

A good number of rookie players attended the first two sessions in St Neots over the last couple of weekends, and Coach White was impressed with the new guys.

We put them through a number of drills and ability test to work out how athletic they were and what positions they could help the club.

The standard of the guys has been very good. Most have played sport at a very good level and coped with the things we threw at them without any major corrections needed so we’re looking forward to seeing how they develop.

This Sunday’s session (18th October) takes place at Lealands High School in Luton, with the final session being held at Stantonbury Campus in Milton Keynes a week later.

Both run from 11am to 1pm and are open to anyone aged 14+ (for the Youth Team) or 18+ (for the Senior Team).

Commenting on what rookie players should expect from from the sessions, Coach White said it’s not all just about football:

We do some conditioning work as we want to have a good understanding of the guys’ fitness levels as well as their football ability.

Most of all though people should expect to have fun – we want to make each session enjoyable as possible!

Judge v White: The Results

29 Sep

In our second Head to Head of the season Head Coach Will White took on Tight End Jack Judge. Here’s how they got on…

Redskins 21 Giants 32 (Thursday Night Football)

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: Jack backed the Giants to turn around their poor start to the season and it looks as though that may be what they’re about to do in a ridiculously bad-looking NFC East. 1-0.
Will WhiteWHITE: Coach couldn’t bring himself to go for the Giants and that stubbornness means he’s off to the worst possible start. 0-1.

Bengals 28 Ravens 24

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: The Ravens have dropped a long way in the last couple of years but Jack couldn’t see him losing this divisional game. He was wrong. 1-1.

Will WhiteWHITE: The HC is back in the game. He said the Bengals and Andy Dalton would prove too much for this Ravens defense, and we’re back to level pegging. 1-1.

Saints 22 Panthers 27

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: Following an extremely scientific approach of “I like the Panthers kit so…Panthers win”, Jack moves to 2-1. We’re not sure if he even knows who Drew Brees is, but we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Will WhiteWHITE: He thought the Panthers would win this one by ten, but the Saints pushed them to the wire. In any event, Coach is also up to 2-1.

Raiders 27 Browns 20

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: He picked the Browns in part because he loves seeing Nellie’s team lose (they didn’t) and watching Manziel play (he didn’t). There’s consistency in there somewhere. 2-2.
Will WhiteWHITE: Coach White is one of a very people old enough to remember a Raiders winning streak, so it should be no surprise that he successfully called this one – and that Amari Cooper would shine. 3-1.
Falcons 39 Cowboys 28

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: With the Cowboys missing some big players on offense Atlanta came into this one as favourites, so Jack backed a winner to take himself up to 3-2.

Will WhiteWHITE: Like Mr Judge, Will went with the Falcons saying Julio Jones would be the difference maker. 164 yards and 2 touchdowns later, it’s hard to argue. 4-1.

Buccaneers 9 Texans 19

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: Picking your winner in some part based on them having a very cool season of Hard Knocks could be questioned by some, but that Texans D against that Buccaneers O certainly couldn’t. 4-2.
Will WhiteWHITE: Will’s on a roll with his fifth correct pick on the bounce. 5-1.

Chargers 14 Vikings 31

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: Following 126 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns it looks like Adrian Peterson is back. Both our guys called it right, and it takes Judge to 5-2.

Will WhiteWHITE: Nobody quite expected this to be as one-sided as it was, but it’s six correct predictions in a row for Coach White although Jack’s hanging in there. 6-1.

Jaguars 17 Patriots 51

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: Nobody gets a prize for correctly predicting the Patriots would walk it against the Jags, and it’s no shock that JJ did exactly that. 6-2.

Will WhiteWHITE: Only the most optimistic Jacksonville would have gone for anything other than a Patiots win by a landslide. Will’s a Patriots fan (for shame) so that was never going to happen. The streak continues. 7-1.
Eagles 24 Jets 17

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: He picked the Eagles because they were called the Eagles, and we’re the Eagles. Lot of Eagles in that sentence. Big W for JJ, who is still only one game behind. 7-2.

Will WhiteWHITE: Or is he? The streak is finally over, and we’re all square at 7-2 just inside the second half. Is the tide turning against the man from ‘Bama? 7-2.

Steelers 12 Rams 6

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: It was the lowest scoring game of the weekend in the NFL, and although the Steelers picked up the win (as correctly predicted by Mr Judge) they may have lost the war with Big Ben getting injured. That’ll be for another time though, JJ’s at 8-2 and guaranteed finishing at least 0.500.
Will WhiteWHITE: Coach White also went with Pittsburgh, also moves to 8-2 and also guarantees himself at least a 0.500 finish. Both guys have outscored Week One’s contestants.
Colts 35 Titans 33

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: Mariota at home wasn’t enough for the Jack-backed Titans, who lost a close one. He falls to 8-3.

Will WhiteWHITE: He thought it’d be a blow-out, going with the Colts by three scores. It certainly wasn’t that, but the Colts managed to dig out the win. 9-2.

49ers 7 Cardinals 47

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: Oh this is awkward. Did anyone really think the Cardinals wouldn’t win this one? I’m sure if JJ had his time again he wouldn’t pick the 9ers, would you JJ? 8-4.

Will WhiteWHITE: In our “what the hell were you thinking” moment of the week, Coach White said the 49ers would win this one by 14. We’ll leave you with that one for a minute. 9-3.
Bills 41 Dolphins 14

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: “I’m a Buffalo fan so I have to back my Bills in this battle of London-bound teams. Bills win”, said JJ. Bet he didn’t think it’d be this easy though? 9-4.

Will WhiteWHITE: “The Bills will get back on the winning track and I can see QB Taylor having a breakout game. Bills win”, said Coach White. Again, who thought it would be this easy as the Dolphins limp (can Dolphins limp?) to London. 10-3.
Bears 0 Seahawks 26

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: The Bears are doing their best to secure the #1 pick nice and early this year, and with showings like this they might just get it wrapped up. JJ said Seahwawks win, of course it was a Seahawks win. 10-4.

Will WhiteWHITE: “The Seahawks get Chancellor back, the defense steps up another level and the Bears get blown out.” That just about sums it up. Great practice for the Bears punter though. 11-3.
Broncos 24 Lions 12

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: With both guys going with the Packers in Monday Night Football it all came down to this. JJ stuck his neck out and said the Lions would win. Oops. 10-5.

Will WhiteWHITE: The old head knows never to count Peyton Manning out and bags himself the win by backing the Broncos on the road. 12-3. Game over.

Chiefs 28 Packers 38

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: Almost seems irrelevant now but JJ went with the Packers and gets it right in a game that was a lot better than probably should have been. He finishes with a respectable 11-5, despite openly admitting that he knows absolutely nothing about American Football.
Will WhiteWHITE: Coach puts the icing on the cake by correctly calling MNF, but was it ever really going to be anything other than a Green Bay win? Victory and 13-3.

So there we have it Coach White takes Week 2 with a score of 13-3 to Jack Judge’s 11-5. The Coaches and Staff lead after two rounds 19-13 to 17-15, and it’s all to play for between the Players and the Staff next week where Offensive Lineman Danny Cousins takes on Vice Chairman Mark Chilton.

Last week, Wide Receiver Chris Cowley took on Club Chairman and Offensive Coordinator Neale McMaster. It was a close battle throughout the weekend and both eventually finished 6-10, so it’s all to play for this week.

Next up we have Tight End Jack Judge going up against Head Coach Will White. You can let us know what you think of their predictions by leaving a comment in the box below, by posting on our Facebook page, or by sending us a Tweet. Be sure to check back to Tuesday to see how they got on:

Redskins @ Giants (Thursday Night Football – Sky Sports 1 HD, Friday 01:25)

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: Giants to turn around a poor start to the season and edge this one out by a score. Giants win.

Will WhiteWHITE: Redskins by two touchdowns as I hate the Giants being a Patiots fan! Redskins win.

Bengals @ Ravens

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: Bengals coming off the back of a win and I can’t see it happening again. Ravens win.

Will WhiteWHITE: The Ravens defense is struggling and the Bengals will prove too much and pull one out. Bengals win

Saints @ Panthers (Sky Sports 2 HD, Sunday 17:30)

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: I like the Panthers’ kit so… Panthers win.

Will WhiteWHITE: The Panthers will win this one by ten as the Saints D is hurting. Panthers win.

Raiders @ Browns

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: Not only do I love to see Nellie’s team lose I also love to watch Mr Manziel play. Browns win.

Will WhiteWHITE: Toss up but I pick the Raiders by a TD – Amari Cooper a ‘Bama boy to have a great game. Raiders win.

Falcons @ Cowboys

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: I have a small soft spot for the Falcons and with some big players missing for the Cowboys I’ll have to back a win for the visitors. Falcons win.

Will WhiteWHITE: Falcons by a touchdown. Julio Jones is the man and the Cowgirls suck. Falcons win.

Buccaneers @ Texans

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: The Texans provided a great Hard Knocks this season and I think defensively they will be able to pull this one off. Texans win.

Will WhiteWHITE: The Texans defense will finally come alive and the offense will pick up some steam to get their first win. Texans win.

Chargers @ Vikings

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: I’m backing AP to have a blinder this game. Vikings win.

Will WhiteWHITE: AP has a great game as they eek one out and beat the Chargers. Vikings win.

Jaguars @ Patriots

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: I get compared to Gronk daily and in all honesty I think he needs to put in some work to catch up to me, but I have to back the big TE and the Pats. Patriots win

Will WhiteWHITE: Brady and Gronk keep up their hot streak and burn the Jags. Patriots win.

Eagles @ Jets

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: If I didn’t back the Eagles that would be like backing the Cheetahs. Eagles win.

Will WhiteWHITE: Jets on a roll and the Eagles offense has left the building with Bradford at the helm. Jets win.

Steelers @ Rams

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: Steelers coming off the back of a demolition of the 49ers. Steelers win.

Will WhiteWHITE: Steelers stay hot and beat the Rams. Steelers win.

Colts @ Titans

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: The Titans are at home and I think Mariota will be back to what we saw in week one. Titans win.

Will WhiteWHITE: Colts by three touchdowns, Luck will get his mojo back and bury the Titans. Colts win.

49ers @ Cardinals

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: The 49ers have been all over the place so far but I think they’ll bounce back with a win. 49ers win.

Will WhiteWHITE: The 49ers will go to work and beat the Cards by 14. 49ers win.

Bills @ Dolphins (Sky Sports 2 HD, Sunday 21:15)

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: I’m a Buffalo fan so I have to back my Bills in this battle of London-bound teams. Bills win.

Will WhiteWHITE: The Bills will get back on the winning track and I can see QB Taylor having a breakout game. Bills win.

Bears @ Seahawks

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: The Seahawks are having an absolute western this season but I can see them turning the year around. Seahawks win.

Will WhiteWHITE: The Seahawks get Chancellor back, the defense steps up another level and the Bears get blown out. Seahawks win.

Broncos @ Lions (Sky Sports 2 HD, Monday 00:30)

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: This one I think could go either way but I’m going to back the home team. Lions win.

Will WhiteWHITE: I think Manning will get his touch back and smoke the Lions. Broncos win.

Chiefs @ Packers (Sky Sports 1 HD, Tuesday 01:30)

Jack Judge 2JUDGE: Eeny Meeny Miny Mo. Packers win.

Will WhiteWHITE: Rodgers keeps his hot hand and the Packers pull one out on the Chiefs. Packers win.

PREVIEW: Cheetahs @ Eagles

09 Apr

The Eagles’ first home game of the 2015 season takes place this Sunday (12th April) in another, tough-looking divisional game against the rebranded Hertfordshire Cheetahs.

The Cheetahs beat the Eagles 19-0 in our inaugural game on the opening day of last season at Hertfordshire University on the way to posting a perfect 10-0 regular season record, and after losing out in the play-offs to a strong Edinburgh Wolves side head into the new campaign on the back of what appears to have been a very successful off-season.

They have added additional players and coaches to an already large squad, and recently celebrated the honour of having Offensive Lineman Stuart Butcher selected to represent Great Britain Students against Finland, in which the Lions ran out 40-0 victors.

The Eagles edged past the Cambridgeshire Cats in the opening game of the season last weekend, and will be looking to come back with a better performance in front of a home crowd this week.

Linebacker Byron Chowles misses the game following breaking his ankle during the victory against the Cats, but Head Coach Will White has no other new injury concerns.

Will we see the Cheetahs start 2015 the same they did 2014, or will see the Eagles emerge as an early season force in the division? Join us at Bedford International Athletics Stadium on Sunday from midday to find out!

Admission for Sunday’s game is £2 each for adults for which you receive a free programme, or free for under-18s.

In this week’s programme we have a word with Chairman Neale McMaster, Head Coach Will White shares his thoughts and we also hear from Gameday Manager Paul Smyth.

We also have interviews with QB Enrique Alonso and rookie CB Mark Lusted, the latest on the Youth Team and a Spectator’s Guide.
