If there’s one thing sure to split opinion quickly it’s the age-old battle of who knows more about the NFL, the players or the staff?

To try and resolve the issue once and for all players take on coaches and backroom staff one on one to see who really knows their stuff.

The concept is pretty simple: each week one Eagles player and one staff member will go head to head predicting the outcome of the weekend’s NFL games, and by the end of the season the true power houses will emerge.

Heading into this week where Running Back Paul Settle meets Defensive Coordinator Darren Hill, the players have the edge with a score of 67-49 to 66-50.

Let’s see what the weekend has in store…

Bills @ Jets (Thursday Night Football)

SETTLE: I’m gonna go with the Jets just because I like their name as it sounds fast and I hate getting bills! I’m also feeling Christmassy at the moment and New York is a great place to Christmas shop so I’ve heard!?!?! So Jets it is!!

HILL: A difficult game to start with. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Bills, back in the day they lost 4 Super Bowls in a row, which takes some doing and my father in law lives just outside Buffalo. The Jets have also routinely sucked and haven’t been to the Super Bowl since the 1960s. However they are playing at home. Jets to win a close one.

Lions @ Packers

SETTLE: I kinda like both the outfits and I’m gonna base most of my decisions on kits I like and the odd player I know. It has to be the Packers for the win mainly because I’ve always had a man crush on Christopher Parr and he follows the Packers!! And I like to eat cheese!! They have something to do with cheese right??!

HILL: Easiest pick of the week. Detroit are awful, Green Bay aren’t. Green Bay will win by loads.

Cowboys @ Buccaneers

SETTLE: Can’t stand Pirates they’re thieves so definitely going with the Cowboys for the win, and my mum loved the TV show Dallas so it’s gotta be Cowboys for the win without a doubt!!

HILL: Nellie is blaming me for his loss last week because he picked Tampa Bay on the strength of my recommendation of Tampa Bay and ex-Florida State Quarterback Jameis Winston. The Buccaneers QB was great, his Wide Receivers, and in particular first round pick Mike Evans (6 drops) were awful. It doesn’t matter, they are playing Dallas and they were bad without Dez Bryant and Tony Romo, Bryant is back Romo isn’t. Jameis is going to have a sore back after carrying his team to their fourth win of the season.

Panthers @ Titans

SETTLE: Now I’m no expert but I know that guy Cam Newton plays for the Panthers as he keeps flashing up in NFL videos on my FB page. He looks pretty good, a bit selfish but hey, you know what them QB’s are like!! So Panthers to take this one…

HILL: Carolina are undefeated and this week they face the other Heisman winning rookie QB in Marcus Mariota. The reason he was taken second in the draft is because Tennessee weren’t very good, they still aren’t. Cam Newton keeps the Panthers undefeated.

Bears @ Rams

SETTLE: Got to be the Bears, right? As they are big and scary in the wild and seeing as teams must be named after what they think they’re gonna play like they must be good!! And that massive Fridge guy used to play for them!! So Bears it is…GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

HILL: Another team from the eighties having a tough year are the Bears. St Louis aren’t great but they win this one comfortably.

Saints @ Redskins

SETTLE: Redskins. Not sure why I’m going for these – probably cos their QB has dreads hanging out the back of his helmet which always looks pretty cool (ED – do you want to tell him or shall I?).

HILL: I’ve been a Redskins fan for more years than I care to mention, we’ve had our ups and downs, and recently it’s been more down than up. The Saints, despite having a better record are a terrible team and over the last two weeks their once vaunted defence has allowed back to back QBs to have career games. This continues and the Redskins win at home.

Dolphins @ Eagles

SETTLE: I’m going select the Dolphins just because I’ve seen the TV show Ballers with the Rock and it looks like a nice place to live if you’re rich and in the NFL and own a yacht!!! Remember to buy tuna not using the nets which trap Dolphins though kids!!!

HILL: As a Redskins fan it has been interesting to watch the Chip Kelly experiment from afar. He started off well but didn’t trade up to get his college QB Mariota and I think this comes back to haunt him. He seems to have lost the players and he doesn’t have a decent QB. Having said all that Miami were one of the 6 teams to play in London this year…they were awful. Eagles win.

Browns @ Steelers

SETTLE: Steelers sounds like they’re thieves but I’m going to go for the Steelers to take this one mainly because in the Batman film when the ground opened up after Bane rocked up in the stadium that receiver kept on playing whilst a major super hero baddie was trashing the field he was on!! So surely beating the Browns will be no problem?!?!

HILL: Currently one of the only saving graces of being a Redskins fan is that you aren’t a Browns fan. The franchise has been a model of ineptitude for as long as I can remember. Everything they do turns to rubbish. When Johnny “Football” Manziel was picked late in the first round a couple of years ago I was asked why he dropped so far. I replied that was because he was a good college QB but would achieve nothing in the NFL. That the Browns gave up draft picks to go and get him tells you everything you need to know about the Browns. The Steelers are having a poor year by their high standards but they still have enough to beat the Browns.

Vikings @ Raiders

SETTLE: Purple who plays in purple?!?!?! Raiders look far harder than the boys in purple and it would be embarrassing to lose to a team playing my wife’s favourite colour!! (Ed – do you want to tell him…oh forget it)

HILL: Another tough one to call. Minnesota are on a four-game winning streak. Oakland lost their last one but are having a decent season after years of struggling under old owner Al Davis whose pick of JaMarcus Russell with the first pick of the 2007 draft and subsequent signing of him to a $61 million deal was so awful that the NFL and the NFL Players Association agreed to completely restructure rookie contracts. I slightly favour the home team to win a close one. Raiders win.

Patriots @ Giants

SETTLE: I have a Giants t-shirt and am feeling Christmassy still so for the same reason as the Jets I’m gonna go with Giants to upset the Patriots. Any Given Sunday and all that!!

HILL: Bill Belichick is one of the best coaches in the game. He sometimes takes “gamesmanship” to the edge but he and Tom Brady have been at the top of the game for years. Unfortunately for the rest of the league the Commissioner decided to wind them both up during the off season. They are both on a mission and are destroying everyone they play. Their offence has played 32 quarters of football. They have scored in each of the last 31. They are too much for the Giants of New York and make the short trip back to New England with the win.

Chiefs @ Broncos

SETTLE: Just watched Christian Okoye A Football Life documentary so I’m gonna say Chiefs!!!

HILL: Similarly Peyton Manning has been one of the best QBs in the league for a lifetime. After several neck surgeries he struggled at the start of the year but his offensive co-ordinator has adjusted and played him in his more familiar shotgun formation and the Broncos defense is playing absolutely lights out. Denver will be too strong for the Chiefs at altitude, Denver wins and Denver joins Indianapolis and Tennessee as places where an extraordinary percentage of the population name their children Peyton (boys) or Payton (girls) after the QB.

Cardinals @ Seahawks (Sunday Night Football)

SETTLE: Running back with dreads hanging out the back of his helmet and I love skittles so Seahawks will take this against the Cardinals! And they’ve incorporated rugby tackling into their program so they must have some sense.

HILL: Another close game. Arizona are playing really well, as their record shows. Seattle have been in back to back Super Bowls, winning one and losing the other. Early in the season they struggled with the way they lost the last Super Bowl and the expectations of their players to get paid. However they have started coming into their own and at home they will be too much for Arizona.

Texans @ Bengals (Monday Night Football)

SETTLE: Texans. JJ Watt that’s why…

HILL: An easy one to finish. The Texans have the best defensive player in the league in JJ Watt, in the last 4 years the only player to average more than a sack per game, and 3 sacks off NFL Legend Lawrence Taylor’s 63 sack 4 year record, and they are still rubbish. The Bengals are on a rare winning streak and to be honest most people, even their own fans , aren’t expecting it to last, but it won’t finish against the Texans. Cincinnati to win easily.

In our eighth Head to Head of the season Defensive MVP Gareth “Tish” Pullen took on Chairman and Offensive Coordinator Neale McMaster. Here’s how they got on…

Browns 10 Bengals 31

PULLEN: Bengals to romp home to victory and remain undefeated. As the only team with the same 53 men on the roster since September’s cuts, the Bengals are winning the right way.
Result: Cincy romped to victory alright. 1-0.

MCMASTER: This shouldn’t be a tough decision, with the undefeated Bengals taking on the 2-6 Brownies, but I have a niggling feeling this game could be close. All it takes is Johnny Football to have screamer and it’s all in Andy Dalton’s hands, and I still don’t trust him yet. Of course, Johnny hasn’t done that since his A&M days, so it’s over to the Red Rifle himself. Bengals by 2 scores, but I just have feeling the bubble is about to burst here for Cincinnati.
Result: If you weren’t sure who Nellie thought would win this the first time you read it through, you weren’t the only one. 1-0.

Dolphins 17 Bills 33

PULLEN: Miami have had quite a resurgence and although they lost last week I feel they will still take the injury-riddled Bills.
Result: FAIL. And this week, where our Scotsmen have only predicted three games differently, this could already come back to haunt Tish. 1-1.

MCMASTER: This is a brutal game to call, looking at the newly resurgent Dolphins vs the Bills, who have been treading water waiting for Tyrod Taylor to come back. I’m taking the home field advantage here, and taking the Bills. That’s about it, hoping Tyrod brings enough of a boost from the distinct averageness that is EJ Manuel, Bills by a score.
Result: If in doubt, go for home field advantage. 60% of the time, it works every time. 2-0.

Packers 29 Panthers 37

PULLEN: My head says Green Bay who will be looking to bounce back from the Denver loss but my defensive heart backs Luke Kuechly and the vaunted Panthers D. Panthers will sneak it with a field goal.
Result: Tish and his defensive heart are back in the game, and now it’s all eyes on the Giants at Tampa Bay. 2-1.

MCMASTER: Another undefeated tries to defend it’s record here, and I think it may well do that. It’s going to come down to Packers passing attack against the Panthers secondary. I fancy the secondary here. Everything in my being tells me to go with Packers, but I’m ignoring that, and going with Carolina. Panthers by a score.
Result: Bang on. No messing. 3-0.

Rams 18 Vikings 21

PULLEN: St. Louis are going to run all over the Vikings, Gurley is going to go OFF on that D. Vikings are a good side but the Rams are on their way up.
Result: So close and yet so far for Tish. 2-2.

MCMASTER: This could be a great game, watching Adrian Peterson go up against the next great back in Todd Gurley. I think Gurley wins that battle, and that leads to the win. The Rams defense is awesome, and I think that could well be the difference. Nick Foles is shaky at best, but I still think Rams by two scores.
Result: It’s the first trip up for the big man. Fortunately for him though he’s not alone. 3-1.

Redskins 10 Patriots 27

PULLEN: Redskins? They still playing? I expect this game to be over at the end of the 1st quarter. Patriots to treat Washington the same way Dan Snyder (Washington Owner) treats those protesting his team’s name, with no respect whatsoever and whip them by 35+ points.
Result: They didn’t win by 35+ points but you’d say it was over as a contest by the end of the first. 3-2.

MCMASTER: The only game being played here is how quickly the Pats can get to 40 points, and will they bother to get the 50 Burger. Pats by a mile. YOU LIKE THAT Kirk Cousins?!
Result: The Pats the very definition of winning without needing to get out of second gear. Nellie goes to 4-1.

Titans 34 Saints 28

PULLEN: Saints riding high after an Offensive masterclass last week will roll over a floundering Titans who sacked their Head Coach this week and are in disarray. Saints put this one to bed early.
Result: Saints put it to bed early? How about the Titans win it in overtime? 3-3.

MCMASTER: So Ken Whisenhunt is gone, no word on if Mariota is back playing this week, and in general the 1-6 Titans are in turmoil. On the other hand they are going up against a defense that conceded nearly 50 points last week (only saved by Tish’s Giants being even more woeful). I think Drew Brees wins this game for the Saints, and they take the match-up by three scores.
Result: He predicted a big win for the hosts, and got it wrong big time. 4-2.

Jaguars 23 Jets 28

PULLEN: A bouncing back Jax will be feeling confident after seeing an embarrassing Jets performance last week, the problem, the Jets had a great D who will have been soundly reprimanded by their defensive coaching staff and will be Jaguar hunting. Jets win.
Result: They threatened to make it interesting for a while but the Jags eventually remembered that they’re the Jags, and that’s enough to take Tish to 4-3.

MCMASTER: I must admit, I’m developing a bit of a fondness for the Jags. Don’t get me wrong, they’re useless, but their push to grow the sport over hear endears them to me. On the other side of things, the Jets will have got the biggest rollicking of their lives after getting destroyed by the mighty Raiders last week, and will be looking to take it on someone. Jets win by a score.
Result: The Jags do what the Jags do. 5-2.

Raiders 35 Steelers 38

PULLEN: Pittsburgh reeling after the gruesome injury to poor Le’veon Bell and a Raiders side no longer the joke that they were, Silver and Black attack and beat the Steelers.
Result: The Steelers get the job done even without Big Ben, largely thanks to DeAngelo Williams. 4-4.

MCMASTER: As a die-hard Raiders fan it killed me to pick against them the first time we did these articles, and I’ll be honest I’m concerned about going away to Pittsburgh this week. Our away form isn’t great, but the Steelers looked poor last week, and we did just destroy the #2 defense in the nation last week. Hello bandwagon, give me a second, I’m jumping on. Raiders win by 2 scores. #jinxed.
Result: Jinxed indeed Mr McMaster, jinxed indeed. 5-3.

Falcons 16 49ers 17

PULLEN: Falcons/49ers? Toilet Bowl anyone? Falcons to scrape a meaningless win being battled between two meaningless teams. Plus 49ers cut Hynes and put him on practice squad, they don’t get the love at the moment.
Result: Tish got everything right apart from who’d actually win, which is quite important in this game. 4-5.

MCMASTER: Atlanta get to enjoy a little trip out to the West Coast this week, beast San Fran, then head home, it’s essentially a long weekend away. Blaine Gabbert isn’t gonna put up a fight. Falcons by four scores.
Result: Shall we just gloss over this and move on? Yes, let’s do that. 5-4.

Giants 32 Buccaneers 18

PULLEN: My Giants, my gallant, fantastic, NFC East leading Giants. Cruelly cheated by a very lucky Saints side who snuck the win in the last five seconds. Not this week, Eli rallies the troops and the D put on their big boy pants and dominate a Bucs side who just turn up and bumble along each Sunday. Giants win, GO BIG BLUE!!!
Result: As much as I wish it wasn’t the case, Tish calls it and he’s back to .500. 5-5.

MCMASTER: These teams are only separated by one game, yet New York tops their division, whilst Tampa is bottom of theirs. Believe when I say this speaks more for how bad the Giants’ division is than anything else. Last week’s lost will have hurt New York, and Tampa’s win last week behind a decent Jameis Winston will have buoyed them. It’s the kind of game Eli should win, but I think last week took too much out them. Tampa wins in the last quarter by a score.
Result: Nellie gets his third result wrong in a row to allow Tish to draw level. 5-5.

Broncos 24 Colts 27

PULLEN: Although Peyton “God-damn” Manning has struggled this year, the addition of Vernon Davies will give the Forehead a great target in the redzone. Colts, again, are a team in turmoil who haven’t lit it up of late. Peyton the the Donkeys with the win off the back of a very strong D.
Result: Not entirely sure where it came from, but somehow the Colts got it done. Tish drops to 5-6.

MCMASTER: Peyton coming home, Broncos D is Hall of Fame good, Colts struggling badly see’s this only go one way. Broncos by two scores.
Result: Nellie is in absolute free fall here. He’s having a mare. 5-6.

Eagles 33 Cowboys 27

PULLEN: Eagles-Cowboys? Can they both lose please? The Eagles experiment is still a season from fruition and having now seen what La’el Collins can do (you see the double block against the Seahawks?) I can see McFadden rumbling along behind that human bulldozer for strong yardage. Cowgirls grab the W.
Result: It doesn’t matter what the Cowboys do, they always find a way to lose. In a way it’s an impressive trait, if you think about it. 5-7.

MCMASTER: No-one is a winner in this game, they are both brutal to watch, although La’el Collins is a personal favourite. Dallas are at home, so I think they win. Don’t watch this game if you like football!
Result: McMaster manages to drop his fifth straight game. 5-7, and it’s all down to Monday Night Football…

Bears 22 Chargers 19

PULLEN: Only the 13 games this week? Wow, better make this one count. In the battle of the most hated QBs in the league (both talk trash and have THAT look about them) I am giving the edge to Cutler’s Bears. Alshon Jeffrey went off last week and in no small part to some great passes thrown by Jay. I haven’t seen the same from Rivers who has struggled with a poor supporting cast who are getting more and more damaged and banged up. Bears take it.
Result: The Bears sneak it and double agent Tish claims the win on behalf of the players with a final score of 6-7.

MCMASTER: SD have placed half their skill position on IR this week, which in the most obvious statement ever, isn’t going to help their situation. It’s bottom of the AFC West (not the Raiders woohoo!!!) against the 2-5 Bears. Jay Cutler is gonna do what he does (play brilliant in spells, plays brutal in other), and that’ll keep the Chargers in the game. Go for it, Bolts by a score, I’ve talked myself into it.
Result: He talked himself into it and talked himself out of the game with, wait for it, a sixth wrong prediction in a row. Unbelievable Jeff. McMaster can only McMastermind a 5-8 defeat on this occasion.

In our seventh Head to Head of the season Lineman of the Year John Rudgard took on Special Teams Coordinator Gary Villiers. Here’s how they got on…

Dolphins 7 Patriots 36

RUDGARD: I’ve been to Miami, and New England within the same holiday. I liked them both, both were hot, but that was summer, this is winter (kind of) so I think the Dolphins will be all like “ooooh this isn’t nice weather like where we’re from” that plus Tom Brady plays for the Patriots and I’ve heard he’s good…so Patriots to win.
Result: The big man gets off to a good start, possibly because of the weather. Who knows. 1-0.

VILLIERS: Everybody loves Thursday Night Football right!? Except the coaches and players who have three days fewer to prepare maybe? The Dolphins were awful at Wembley and the Patriots are NFL royalty with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady showing how to win again and again. But new HC Dan Campbell has The ‘Fins full of confidence with Ryan Tannehill on fire. Surely there’s no chance of an upset but I say the Pats get deflated this week. Dolphins win, no really!
Result: Should have stopped at “surely there’s no chance of an upset”. 0-1.

Lions 10 Chiefs 45

RUDGARD: This should be close, both teams doing pretty rubbish, with the Lions having the edge on rubbishness this season slightly. However I see them being more at home in London (from what I remember from Robocop) so I’m going Lions to win.
Result: Not even close, Robocop and all. 1-1.

VILLIERS: Everybody loves a home game at Wembley right!? See above. At least the Chiefs’ coaches recognise each other, whilst the Lions go into meltdown and wonder who will go next? Having said that, what does it say about The Chiefs when the kicker is the best player on offense? Looks like another Wembley classic. This week the Stafford and Johnson combo get it done for The Lions.
Result: This game couldn’t have been more of a blow-out, much to Coach v’s surprise. 0-2.

Buccaneers 23 Falcons 20

RUDGARD: This one’s easy, Falcons beat Houston and Houston beat Bucs…ergo Falcons to win. It’s pure science/maths…Next.
Result: Hard as it may be to believe, even science gets it wrong sometimes. 1-2.

VILLIERS: The Falcons could well be off to another good start but, as is tradition, look like they are beginning to struggle with the excitement of a winning record, whilst the Bucs gave a lesson in how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at Washington last week. They will be stung by throwing away a 24 point lead and giving up the winning score with 24 seconds left. Watch out for Doug Martin running the Falcons defense ragged. The Bucs to bounce back against their divisional rival. Buccaneers to win.
Result: Coach gets off the mark thanks to this surprising result in the NFC South. 1-2.

Cardinals 34 Browns 20

RUDGARD: Being confused as to why the Cardinals have a bird on their hats and not some sort of man of the cloth (like that team from Ipswich) I looked into it and found out it’s also a type of bird. Anyway I’m not sure why, but I’m backing Browns. They pushed the Broncos close recently, so maybe they’ll play well and win?!?!?! Go Browns.
Result: We’re not sure why you backed the Browns either John. 1-3.

VILLIERS: Will Josh McCown be fit to lead The Browns or will be Johnny Manziel be steering the ship? Better a ship than a car…For Browns fans it seems like a rock and a hard place but The Cards secondary are licking their collective lips. Carson Palmer looks fit and strong safely behind the excellent Cardinals O Line and Chris Johnson is rushing for fun. Cardinals to win on the road.
Result: Never really in doubt, Coach is up to .500. 2-2.

49ers 6 Rams 27

RUDGARD: 13th century King of France has an NFL team named after him? And San Fran are named after the gold rush people of 1849? Anyway, I’m saying Rams gonna win, the SF defense looks a bit rubbish.
Result: The SF defense does indeed look “a bit rubbish”. 2-3.

VILLIERS: Let’s face it, neither Colin Kaepernick or Nick Foles are NFL starting quality QBs. However, at least Foles has star (in the making) running back Todd Gurley who looks like one of the best rookies of 2015 with over 400 yards in 3 games whilst apparently not quite 100% fit! He also has the luxury of knowing that The Rams Defense will destroy The 49ers attack. Easy win for The Rams vs divisional rivals.
Result: It’s not just the SF defense that looks ropy. Imagine being told you’re being benched for Blaine Gabbert next week. Yeesh. 3-2.

Giants 49 Saints 52

RUDGARD: I’m not gonna lie, this is a tough one. Flip, I just don’t know…these guys aren’t good, but they aren’t rubbish either…9/11 was bad and Katrina was bad, but I saw on a Top Gear special how a lot of New Orleans still looks pretty rubbish, whereas New York is now all cleaned up…God bless all of those whom have suffered, but based on that I’m choosing the Saints.
Result: You can’t argue with a well thought out, constructed argument. 3-3.

VILLIERS: Much depends on which Giants turn up this week. can you be “consistently inconsistent?” Maybe it’s to stop opposing teams scouting them?? Meanwhile, The Saints have won two straight and look like they are starting to get their season moving. Both Drew Brees and Eli Manning are quality with the ability to turn this game in their favour. The difference may well be Odell Beckham. Or maybe it will finally be a breakout game for CJ Spiller. It’s going to be close but The Giants have too much for The Saints.
Result: It was certainly close but Gary backed the wrong horse. 3-3.

Vikings 23 Bears 20

RUDGARD: A guy called “Adrian Peterson” plays for the Vikings, I saw him play once…He was good in that game and Wikipedia has told me he is regularly good. That on top of this season’s record the Vikings look the likely victors. For anyone that doesn’t know, the Bears also used to have a running back called Adrian Peterson. Vikings win.
Result: Wikipedia for the win! 4-3.

VILLIERS: Apparently, The Vikings haven’t won at divisional rivals Chicago since 2007. With all the soldiers appearing to have abandoned the field this must be the year. The Bears Defense is just not good enough and giving up too many points. The Vikings with Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson are heading for the play-offs whilst The Bears will have an extended winter break. Vikings win.
Result: It may have only been by one score but the Bears’ miserable season continues. 4-3.

Chargers 26 Ravens 29

RUDGARD: San Diego, it’s the greatest city in the world. It’s a fact. Discovered by the Germans in 1904…I don’t know much about Baltimore, however due a to a recent post I saw on Facebook I did learn to distinguish between a Raven and a crow: look out for a larger, slightly downward curved beak on the Raven, and they also travel in pairs. These teams look a good match for each other. Looking through a lot of this season’s results, a lot of scores are very close, making win/loss records kind of unreliable as a predictor. Crumbs what a ramble…OK I’m going with the Ravens.
Result: Have no idea what is going on any more. 5-3.

VILLIERS: The big question here is, “who cares?!” Two of the most disappointing teams in The AFC. The Ravens offering a lesson every week in how to “not quite win” and The Chargers totally unable to stop the rush and not great against the pass. This will be the Flacco and Forsett show as The Ravens finally nail it.
Result: If by “finally nail it” Gary meant “squeeze past by the skin of their teeth” then he got it spot on. He also moves to 5-3.

Bengals 16 Steelers 10

RUDGARD: Ooooh look at the Bengals being all unbeaten…but a few very close victories. Never the less, I’m ignoring what I said previously regarding league position as a predictor and I’m going with the unbeatens. Cincinnati is more fun to say also…
Result: Right for all the right reasons. 6-3.

VILLIERS: One of the top games this week and a great AFC North divisional battle. The Bengals are off to an unbeaten start with Andy Dalton looking outstanding at the helm. Meanwhile, the Steelers must be relieved that they are still in with a chance of taking the division despite missing “Big” Ben Roethlisberger, mostly due to the quality of LeVeon Bell and Antonio Brown. The only way The Bengals can lose this week is if QB #1 Big Ben returns from his knee injury. Bad news Bengals fan, Steelers win.
Result: Nope. 5-4.

Titans 6 Texans 20

RUDGARD: Cripes, there are a lot of tough games to call here. I like this one because I know two players in it…Vince Wilfork: he bowls around in dungarees, a hat and boots (no t shirt/shirt) and gets bare lolz. And I also know JJ Watt, who a lot of people seem to like. I’m going with the Titans due to Houston’s unimaginative choice of the name “Texans”. Titans win.
Result: Wrong, but still for all the right reasons. 6-4.

VILLIERS: Well both teams got beat up bad by a resurgent Dolphins and let’s face it, The AFC South is just awful. Somehow, the Texans coaches remain intact despite a poll in The Houston Chronicle that called for everyone to be sacked! The Titans have managed to lose 5 in a row but they do have rookie QB Marcus Mariota and may just be improving. Titans to nick it.
Result: Looks like the bubble might be bursting for Coach V. 5-5.

Jets 20 Raiders 34

RUDGARD: So the Jets jet off to Oakland to face the Raiders (at school this guy called Matthew Agrimi, aka “Gypsy”, got a rip-off NFL jacket with “LA Radars” written on the back, suffice to say he got rinsed for it). Jets look good, but I think Neale likes the Raiders so I’ll go with them. Raiders win.
Result: Correct, and sales in “LA Radars” merch goes through the roof. 7-4.

VILLIERS: The Jets are having a good start and need a win to stay in touch with The Patriots. The Raiders are having an OK start but need a win to stay in touch with The Broncos. Lot’s of incentive for both teams with an eye on the play-offs. Jets may be without star RB Chris Ivory and Raiders’ RB Latavius Murray is due a big game. However, Ryan Fitzpatrick appears to have The Jets full of confidence and The Raiders have lost two at home so may feel the pressure? Tricky to call but I say Jets win.
Result: Uh-oh, Gary’s suddenly two games down with only three to play. John couldn’t could he? 5-6.

Seahawks 13 Cowboys 12

RUDGARD: I’ve heard that the Seahawks are called the Legion of Boom, like those wrestlers from WWF “Animal” and “Hawk”?!? My mate liked them, me not so much…sounds scary but they’ve lost a few already. All talk no trousers. Cowboys win.
Result: As much as I wanted this to be right, Big John’s momentum has been halted. 7-5.

VILLIERS: The Cowboys are in free fall and have no QB capable of playing in the NFL let alone taking on The Seahawks defense. The Hawks are in “must win” mode and Russell Wilson will enjoy playing against a defense giving up 26 points per game. It will be all out attack and brutal. Seahawks win.
Result: The Cowboys D conceded half the points they usually do, but unfortunately their O couldn’t step up. Coach is back in it at 6-6. It all comes fown to Sunday Night Football…

Packers 10 Broncos 29

RUDGARD: Hot dang, big “bragging rights” to play for here as two unbeatens clash. Ever since the Broncos were ridiculed on the Simpsons, they’ve made it their mission to clear their name as a rubbish team, and they seem to be doing just dandy. So I’m going with them, I want them to win…that can make a difference if we all do it. I saw Uri Gellar do it once on “This Morning”, and some plonker rang in saying his TV started levitating…
Result: The power of positive thought has done it for John! 8-5 and an unassailable lead heading into MNF..!

VILLIERS: Two unbeaten teams in a massive “Game of the Week!” Aaron Rodgers vs Peyton Manning in a QB battle that may well be a Super Bowl preview!? The Broncos are really tough to beat at home and have won their last 10. The Packers are pretty average away from Green Bay despite their hordes of travelling fans. The difference will be whether Manning can eliminate the recent mental errors that have seen him throw more interceptions than you’d expect from a top QB. Rodgers is a machine. Packers to spoil The Bronco’s home record.
Result: Green Bay clearly didn’t get the memo about how bad Peyton is supposed to be this year. Either that or the Denver D is really that good. In any event, Coach slips to 6-7 and it’s game over.

Colts 26 Panthers 29

RUDGARD: “Colts” is a rubbish name for a team, it basically means a little boy horse. Panther – badass big black cat…Panthers to win.

Result: The badass big black cat takes the win, and John finishes 9-5.

VILLIERS: Are Carolina, “the worst undefeated team” in the league? Is that actually an insult??? You can only beat what’s in front of you! They looked pretty good against The Seahawks…Colts QB Andrew Luck is top quality, one of the best. He has absolutely no offensive line which makes life difficult. Cam Newton has The Panthers full of belief and more than ready to beat The Colts. Plus, I will never forgive The Colts for sneaking out of Baltimore…I have a long memory. Panthers to go 7-0.
Result: The long memory no doubt helped keep it respectable. Coach finishes 7-7.

As a result of this week’s scores we’re now neck and neck between the Coaches/Staff and the Players, 61-42 to 61-42. Be sure to check back on Thursday for this week’s predictions.

In our sixth Head to Head of the season Offensive Lineman Jon Amokah took on Youth Team Head Coach Nick Benning. Here’s how they got on…

Seahawks 20 49ers 3

AMOKAH: “Everyone knows all is not well with the Seahawks defence,” said Jon ahead of Thursday Night Football. “Question is, do Kaepernick and co have what it takes to capitalise?” He thought they did, turns out they really, really didn’t. Not a brilliant start. 0-1.

BENNING: Correctly predicted Russell Wilson to continue his strong streak against the 9ers, who are in freefall. Coach is off to the best possible start. 1-0.

Bills 31 Jaguars 34

AMOKAH: What a ridiculous game this was, with the Jags threatening to blow the Bills out of the water before remembering that they’re the Jags and very, very nearly throwing it away. Anywho, Jon called a big day for Jacksonville, who got their first Wembley win. 1-1.

BENNING: He was worried the game would be dull for those in attendance, but it turned out to be arguably one of the most entertaining games in the history of the International Series. Also backed the Bills incorrectly, so it’s back down to earth with a bang for Benning as he’s also now 1-1.

Vikings 28 Lions 19

AMOKAH: He went on record to say the Lions “are too talented to be a 1-5 team”. Well they’re now a 1-6 team Jon, are they too talented for that? Fortunately for the big man he had the foresight to still predict a Vikings win, and that takes him to 2-1.

BENNING: One of our resident Vikings fans, was he ever going to go for anything other than an away win? Of course not, and he was spot on to do so. 2-1.

Saints 27 Colts 21

AMOKAH: We’re all for grudges, especially if they’re left unexplained like why Mr Amokah thinks the Colts are “too big for their bridges” (we think he meant “britches”but it’s fine). No questions asked, the Saints win and Jon moves to 3-1.

BENNING: “On paper I should probably go for the Colts, but on the back of Brees and the boys getting the win against the previously undefeated Falcons, I can feel the Saints hitting form” he said. Good job he didn’t talk himself out of it. 3-1.

Steelers 13 Chiefs 23

AMOKAH: The Steelers were supposed to keep strong thanks to their “Next Man Up” mentality, but they didn’t and Jon moves to 3-2.

BENNING: Coach Benning is still nipping at Amokah’s toes thanks to this Pittsburgh loss on the road at London-bound Kansas City, he’s also 3-2.

Texans 26 Dolphins 44

AMOKAH: Oh boy, this isn’t going to be pretty. The only unit he said he trusted in this match up was the Texans offense. Not sure what Ryan Tannehill, Lamar Miller and the rest of the Dolphins thought of that when they were up by 40-odd points at the half. 3-3.

BENNING: So, are the ‘Fins back or are the Texans really are as bad as we think they are? Maybe it’s both, but all that matters now is that Benning is also 3-3.

Jets 23 Patriots 30

AMOKAH: “There are three things in life you don’t do. You don’t tug on Superman’s Cape, you don’t put Baby in the corner and you sure as hell do not give Belichick and Brady something to prove.” Sums it up quite nicely for me, and puts Jon back on the right track. 4-3.

BENNING: Correctly predicted yet another win for the Pats to also move to 4-3.

Browns 6 Rams 24

AMOKAH: Went with the Rams on a toin coss, and they duly took the Browns apart. Amokah goes to an impressive 5-3.

BENNING: Broke the mould by backing the Browns on the road in St Louis, and it cost him his winning streak. Coach is now playing catch up at 4-4.

Falcons 10 Titans 7

AMOKAH: Our lineman hasn’t got a lot wrong this week (apart from thinking the Falcons were still undefeated), and he called this one right as well. On to 6-3.

BENNING: Reckoned Atlanta would win by three scores. They didn’t, winning instead by three points, but a win’s a win and Nick is back in the game at 5-4.

Buccaneers 30 Redskins 31

AMOKAH: If you know a Tampa Bay fan you might want to give them a hug this week after the ‘Skins staged the biggest comeback in franchise history to sneak by the hapless Bucs. Jon said he marginally favoured the home side, and they marginally won. 7-3.

BENNING: Nick said he’d be impressed if either of these teams managed to win, and for a while it didn’t look like either side wanted to. In the end though he went for the wrong side, moves to 5-5, and maybe that’s that.

Raiders 37 Chargers 29

AMOKAH: The Raiders raced into a huge lead before taking their foot off the gas and eventually only beating the Chargers by one score in this battle for second in the AFC West. Jon said that Oakland would win, and it takes him to 8-3.

BENNING: Nick spent an age describing why he wanted the Raiders to win…and then backed the Chargers. He should have known better, and surely it’s game over now. 5-6.

Cowboys 20 Giants 27

AMOKAH: Said Jon of this NFC East battle: “everyone knows exactly how the ‘Boys are going to blow this one. The Defence will hold up, but the offence will continually stall”. Bang on, and he’s 9-3.

BENNING: Coach got this one right, even if did say the Giants defence would get in (the injured) Tony Romo’s face. No matter, he’s 6-6 and keeping it respectable.

Eagles 16 Panthers 27

AMOKAH: Never doubted for a second that the underrated Panthers would pull out the W against the Eagles, and that confidence sees Amokah coasting into Monday Night Football with an 10-3 record.

BENNING: Said the Panthers would remain undefeated against inconsistent Philly, and that takes him to 7-6.

Ravens 18 Cardinals 26

AMOKAH: Jon’s spoiler alert was that the Cards would batter Baltimore in Monday Night Football. It didn’t really go down like that, but it’s hard to argue with a 11-3 record.

BENNING: Coach also finished with a flourish by picking the Cards to finish with a pretty respectable score of 8-6.

So there we have it. As a result of this week’s scores the Coaches and Staff’s lead after six rounds has been cut to 54-35 to 52-37. It’s still all to play for, so be sure to check back on Thursday for this week’s predictions.

If there’s one thing sure to split opinion quickly it’s the age-old battle of who knows more about the NFL, the players or the staff?

To try and resolve the issue once and for all players take on coaches and backroom staff one on one to see who really knows their stuff.

In week one Wide Receiver Chris Cowley took on Club Chairman and Offensive Coordinator Neale McMaster battled out a 6-10 draw which was followed by Head Coach Will White defeating Tight End Jack Judge by a score of 13-3 to 11-5.

Three weeks ago Vice Chairman Mark Chilton edged passed Offensive Lineman and Rookie of the Year Danny Cousins, a fortnight ago Running back Matt Duffin and Running Backs coach Neil Duffy drew 10-4 and last week Treasurer Michael Dilley saw off the challenge of Wide Receiver Jack Davis-Fletcher.

Heading into this week where Offensive Lineman Jon Amokah meets Youth Team Head Coach Nick Benning, the Coaches and Staff lead the players 46-29 to 41-34.

Let’s see what the weekend has in store…

Seahawks @ 49ers (Thursday Night Football – Sky Sports 1 HD, Friday 01:25)

AMOKAH: The Legion of Boom have been found out! The tape is out on these guys and everyone knows all is not well with the Seahawks Defence. Question is, do Kaepernick and co have what it takes to capitalise? Because with Beast Mode back and the much-anticipated Wilson-Graham connection beginning to blossom, the 49ers D are going to have their hands full. I think they have a lot of upside with Carlos Hyde, and CK has shown he can get the ball to Boldin and Smith, and that’s why the 9ers pip it this week! 49ers to win.

BENNING: So over the the last couple of seasons this rivalry has been one to watch, this game will be too..but maybe for the wrong reasons. The 2014 NFC title game is a distant memory now. Who has fallen the least in between this season and last? Both teams have a 2-4 record, however when you factor in Russell Wilson’s ability to put points on the 9er’s (nearly three times as many as conceded since he became a starter) you have to go with the Seattle boys. Seahawks to win.

Bills @ Jaguars (International Series – Wembley Stadium)

AMOKAH: The Bills have been the most inconsistent team in the league! Maybe they don’t have an identity under Rex Ryan yet, but as sure as a day is long, they will find it sooner rather than later. In a conference that 8-9 wins could get a playoff spot, the Bills have a compelling reason to decide who they are under Ryan this week in a game that is going to feel more neutral than an away game. With Tyrod Taylor out, it falls to EJ Manuel to find the better form of last season to work into a playoff berth and…screw it, the fact that there is too much going on with the Bills is reason enough to assume the Jags have this! TJ Yeldon is out, but in his place comes the dynamic offensive weapon Dennard Robinson (easy sleeper for this week in fantasy, you heard it hear first), and without the major distraction, the Jags could take this, and are my pick to win this tie. Jaguars win.

BENNING: In week 1 this actually looked like it might not be as bad a game as it initially looked to me on paper. As in, the Bills looked like they might be a half decent unit and we would get the annual UK romping over the poor Union Jaxs. McCoy? Harvin? What’s not to like? They have however since fallen on inconsistency and so I fear this game will be a bore for all those at WEM-BEER-LEEE on Sunday. Bills to win it, Rambo pick 6….just because he’s called Rambo. Bills to win.

Vikings @ Lions

AMOKAH: I’m going to go on record and say the Lions are too talented to be a 1-5 team. 5th in the league in passing tells it’s own story, but with 3 under-utilised talented backs, not getting much work tells you that Jim Caldwell is not a fan of the running game, since this was the same stuff he pulled with Payton Manning, and Joe Flacco (yes they went on to win Super Bowls under his tutelage, but they still had established running backs who I suspect wouldn’t put up with this). The Vikings have been a one-man organisation for a while and still, Peterson is reliably unstoppable. Lions are at home, and might have an extra dimension if they use the running game, and they should win this with that! But won’t because Jim Caldwell doesn’t like to run! Vikings win.

BENNING: As a Vikings fan, this one is a no-brainer and luckily we are playing one of the worst teams I’ve seen for a while. Sure the Lions have Megatron, but he’s going to need more than his fair share of Energon cubes to get them through this one. Teddy showed that the Vikes can find some form in the to add to Purple Jesus’s running game. Vikes go 4-2.

Saints @ Colts

AMOKAH: This is personal to me – and I will feel like this for a while – but the Colts are too big for their bridges. I am rooting for, and predicting, the Saints will be all good to part Andrew Luck and co with a W. No questions asked, New Orleans win!

BENNING: Another game of inconsistent vs incompetent. On paper I should probably go for the Colts, but on the back of Brees and the boys getting the win against the previously undefeated Falcons, I can feel the Saints hitting form. Saints win.

Steelers @ Chiefs

AMOKAH: Since the fall of Big Ben, the Steelers have delivered a masterclass in “Next Man Up”, and getting it done. Something the Chiefs are going to have to learn to do, this week, since the fall of Jamaal Charles. So the Steelers have been doing it longer and this is why they win this week!

BENNING: When I started playing ball Steelers were THE team. A lot has changed since then and some dark days have lurked, however it seems they are reaching the light at the end of that tunnel. With a 4-2 record so far this season and now playing the Chiefs, happy days in Pittsburgh. So as much as it pains me to pick Mike Keogh’s team…Steelers to win.

Texans @ Dolphins

AMOKAH: Here, we find the two most underachieving defences this year. How Nkomadong Suh doesn’t have the flesh of past quarterbacks between his teeth, this season, is beyond me. But hey, JJ Watt isn’t quite up to the standard we have grown to expect from him either. In fact the only unit I trust in this match up is the Texans offence. With the recent coach changes in Miami, it’s hard to see where the plays are going to come from. Texans win.

BENNING: Another tough game to call, but for the wrong reasons. Both teams come into this game with losing records so far this season. The ‘Fins look average but do seem to be an improvement on previous seasons. The Texans should be great with the names on that D, but a lackluster O has let them down. However a win in the last game and new Coaches in at the Fins make me go for the guys from the lone star state. Texans to win.

Jets @ Patriots

AMOKAH: There are three things in life you don’t do. You don’t tug on Superman’s Cape, you don’t put Baby in the corner and you sure as hell do not give Belichick and Brady something to prove. And if Deflategate was dying down, all the Colts did last week was open up a fresh wound. Sorry Jets, I like what you are doing, but just not this week! Pats ftw!

BENNING: Another tough call, but this time for the right reasons. The irresistible force (Pats O) vs the immovable object (Jets D). Post-Rex Ryan Jets look like the team they should have been a few seasons ago, currently 4-1 and looking good for a post-season football bet. The Pats, well are the Pats, when will they stop being good? Currently 5-0, but came from behind in a Monday night shootout! This could be a classic, but I’ll have the Pats to win.

Browns @ Rams

AMOKAH: Nobody wins here, these teams have been indifferent this season. Nick Foles is a far shade from the dude who replaced Michael Vick and torched Tampa Bay two years ago. Joe Haden is missing in action, making this a true coin toss. Yeah, Rams it is.

BENNING: This won’t be a game for the ages, but could still be surprisingly interesting. Both teams have losing records, however they both have some decent scalps to their names this season. I tried using the Fox Sports predictor to help me with this one…but it went into meltdown. Even in defeat against the Broncos the Browns showed they can put points on the board. So lets go with the Money, Browns to win.

Falcons @ Titans

AMOKAH: What’s not to like about Atlanta? 5-0 (ed-do you want to tell him or shall I?), passing game on point, Devante Freeman a refreshing sight, Defence balling out. And Tennessee aren’t exactly starting fires. Falcons win.

BENNING: The Falcons dropped the ball big style against the Saints last Thursday. Luckily for them they can regroup against the Titans. The Tennessee squad is very much in development and I doubt they have enough in the locker to put up a real fight. White and Jones to grab a brace each, Falcons to win by 3+ scores.

Buccaneers @ Redskins

AMOKAH: Kirk Cousins, Washington’s answer to a question no one asked. I like what Tampa are trying to do with rookie QB Jamies Winston, but he is not quite fully ready to tear up the league yet. So I am marginally favouring the home side this week. Redskins win.

BENNING: I’d be impressed if either of these teams managed to win. But sadly in the NFL someone always has to, even the awful teams. The tie-breaker could be the Defence and the Bucs can at least boast their place in the top 5 in both yards against and rushing. Bucs to win by 3 safeties.

Raiders @ Chargers

AMOKAH: With Denver at 5-0, (somehow) this is an opportunity for both sides to pip each other to second spot. With Phillip Rivers propensity to try to be the saviour for the side letting him down, Oakland have a shot at drawing next blood in this sluggish division. And I think they will! Raiders win.

BENNING: I have to admit to having a soft spot for the Raiders, being a child of the 80’s I can actually remember when they were good…seriously I can! Recent years haven’t been so good for the Silver and Black, however this season they have looked a bit better. Sure they have a losing record so far, but the 3 C’s (Carr, Crabtree and Cooper) do provide a decent threat to any of the other mid-level teams. That brings me on to the Chargers, the no.1 offence in the league so far this season pushes them just out of the mid-level bracket. My heart wants to say Raiders…but I’ll go with my head, Chargers to win.

Cowboys @ Giants

AMOKAH: Cowboys without Romo is something we haven’t seen in a while, predictable! And in a division that nobody seems to want to win, everyone knows exactly how the ‘Boys are going to blow this one. The Defence will hold up, but the offence will continually stall. Provided the Giants turn up. Which they will, as a reaction to the defeat to Philly, Giants win!

BENNING: Despite the records this could be a great game. I’m not a fan of Romo and I think the Giants D will really get in his face (ed-do you want to tell him or shall I?). Manning, Cruz and Odell Beckham to give the Cowgirls secondary a ‘mare. Giants to win.

Eagles @ Panthers (Sunday Night Football)

AMOKAH: What’s it going to take for the Panthers to be taken seriously? After the comeback against the Seahawks, Carolina are the real deal! Much has been made of Chip Kelly’s trade policy this season, and with reason. Make no mistake, Kelly is a mad man with t team, but not enough to stop Ron Riviera, and co. There is no version of this that Panthers don’t win.

BENNING: For me the Panthers have been a surprise package this season. Sure we all know Cam is a top draw QB, but it did for a while seem like teams had him figured out. Well I figured wrong. That offence looks great, with a strong running game and the’ve only gone and added my buddy Jared Allen to the D, all be it in what could be his last pro season. Eagles, sadly just don’t have the fire power to stop them. Panthers to go 6-0 and my pick for a Superbowl spot.

Ravens @ Cardinals (MNF)

AMOKAH: BIRD FIGHT!!!! Not really a fight, more of a beat down with Arizona looking to further strengthen their position in the NFC West and the Ravens proving that there are newer ways to lose a game, this isn’t a prediction, this is a spoiler, ARIZONA FOR THE WIN.

BENNING: Ravens are another team that has fallen from grace in recent times. This season they seem to have hit rock bottom. Flacco and the Cards on the other hand are looking very good with the no.5 ranked Offence. I don’t expect any surprises here, Cards to win by 2 + scores.

In our fifth Head to Head of the season Wide Receiver Jack Davis-Fletcher took on Club Treasurer Michael Dilley. Here’s how they got on…

Falcons 21 Saints 31

STICKS: Jack said Matt Ryan would pass for 300+ yards and 2 TDs. He threw for 295 and 2 TDs so that’s so far so good, but he backed the wrong horse in Thursday Night Football and is off to a bad start. 0-1.

DILLEY: The Saints clearly didn’t read the script but Dill didn’t give them a prayer against the previously undefeated Falsons (seriously, did anyone?). Bad starts all round. 0-1.

Bengals 34 Bills 21

STICKS: Correctly called that the Bengals offense would be too strong for Rex Ryan’s Buffalo, and Sticks is off the mark. 1-1.

DILLEY: Never really in doubt on this side of the fence either, 1-1.

Broncos 26 Browns 23

STICKS: This is the first game our guys disagreed on, and it didn’t work out for Sticks. It almost did, but you don’t get points for almost. 1-2.

DILLEY: Thought the Broncos D would keep them in it, and that ultimately proved to be the case as Peyton continues to be all over the place despite Denver moving to 6-0. 2-1.

Bears 34 Lions 37

STICKS: Sticks goes to 1-3 by incorrectly predicting the Bears would edge it. Having gone to overtime it’s kind of hard to criticise the pick too much, so we’ll just move on.

DILLEY: Well it wasn’t actually bowling show ugly, it was actually a pretty exciting game. Also went with the wrong team to win, so all in all an ugly Bears win wasn’t the best of shouts. 2-2.

Texans 31 Jaguars 20

STICKS: Correctly called a big night for DeAndrew Hopkins (10 receptions, 148 yards and 2 TDs) and a win for the Texans, but Blake Bortles and the Jags kept it very interesting until the fourth quarter. Sticks improves to 2-3.

DILLEY: Picking the Jags is always a risk but that’s what happened here. 21 fourth quarter points for Houston later and we’ve got two guys on 2-3.

Chiefs 10 Vikings 16

STICKS: The lowest scoring game of the week, where the Chiefs’ inability to run the ball in the absence of Jamaal Charles hurt them. Sticks called it right, and goes to 3-3.

DILLEY: Calling Adrian Peterson a difference maker isn’t exactly the stuff of genius, and AP only ran for 60 yards and an average of 2.3 yards per carry, but the Chiefs would kill to have someone like that to take the pressure off Alex Smith at the moment. 3-3.

Redskins 20 Jets 34

STICKS: Jets fan Sticks was never going to go for anything other than a win for Gang Green against the inconsistent Redskins. He thought Cousins would throw three picks which was possibly a little optimistic, but he still goes to 4-3.

DILLEY: Cowboys fan Dill didn’t exactly get the result he wanted “Jets to win by 150”, but a Redskins loss is a Redskins loss. 4-3.

Cardinals 13 Steelers 25

STICKS: One of the best offenses in the NFL were expected to beat the Steelers by 14 – at least according to our man Sticks. – so a 12-point victory for Pittsburgh represents a four-score swing. Not the stuff legends are made of. 4-4.

DILLEY: Was prepared to look stupid by going with the Steelers and was left to look like a genius. This doesn’t happen often, so we should pause for a moment’s reflection………………….5-3.

Dolphins 38 Titans 10

STICKS: His loyalty to Mariota cost Sticks big time with this pick, and it takes him down to 4-5.

DILLEY: Head said Fins, heart said Titans. Picked the wrong one, and would have been pretty much home and dry if that wasn’t the case. 5-4.

Panthers 27 Seahawks 23

STICKS: Got the score right (that there’d be less than 1 TD between them) but backed the wrong horse again. Remember when the Seahawks used to be almost unbeatable at home? Seems a long time ago now. 4-6.

DILLEY: There won’t be too many people outside of Flair country that correctly called the outcome of this match, and neither of our guys are in that group. The Panthers are on the march, and our two are sinking fast. 5-5.

Chargers 20 Packers 27

STICKS: If you have a game like Phil Rivers had and still lose, you know it’s just not your day. Sticks goes to 5-6.

DILLEY: “You don’t bet against the Pack at Lambeau, you just don’t. The Packers will win, but it’ll be close”. Correct. 6-5.

Ravens 20 49ers 35

STICKS: He called it right that it would be a high scoring game, but again backed the wrong horse. Is Colin Kaepernick back though? We’ll have to see. For now, Sticks goes to 5-7.

DILLEY: “I honestly haven’t got a clue..” – finally some honesty from one of our contributors. 6-6.

Patriots 34 Colts 27

STICKS: “The Pats will tear them a new one” said Sticks. Not quite, but 34 points on the road is, well, what the Patriots do. He goes to 6-7.

DILLEY: The Pats sure didn’t win by a “country mile” but they’re already looking they’re going to take some stopping this year. 7-6 and it’s all down to Monday Night Football.

Giants 7 Eagles 27

STICKS: “Giants to win this one in a shoot-out”. Nope. Sticks crashes and burns, and finishes 6-8.

DILLEY: Unable to find a way for both teams to lose, Dill opted for the Eagles just to keep the NFC East tight while the Cowboys wait to get Romo and Bryant back. It may have been more by luck than judgement, but it’s still good enough for 8-6 and a win for the staff.

So there we have it. As a result of this week’s scores the Coaches and Staff lead after five rounds 46-29 to 41-34. It’s still all to play for, so be sure to check back on Thursday for this week’s predictions.

If there’s one thing sure to split opinion quickly it’s the age-old battle of who knows more about the NFL, the players or the staff?

To try and resolve the issue once and for all players take on coaches and backroom staff one on one to try and decide once and for all who really knows their stuff.

In week one Wide Receiver Chris Cowley took on Club Chairman and Offensive Coordinator Neale McMaster battled out a 6-10 draw and three weeks ago Head Coach Will White defeated Tight End Jack Judge by a score of 13-3 to 11-5.

A fortnight ago Vice Chairman Mark Chilton edged passed Offensive Lineman and Rookie of the Year Danny Cousins, and last week Running back Matt Duffin and Running Backs coach Neil Duffy battled out a 10-4 tie.

Heading into this week where Wide Receiver Jack Davis-Fletcher (aka Sticks) takes on Treasurer Michael Dilley, the Coaches and Staff lead the players 38-23 to 35-26.

Let’s see what the weekend has in store…

Falcons @ Saints (Thursday Night Football – Sky Sports 1 HD, Friday 01:25)

STICKS: The 5-0 Falcons travel to New Orleans with the 4th ranked offence whilst the Saints boast the worst defense in the NFL. Matty Ice and Julio are going to have a good night. 300+ yards 2 TDs for Ryan and 130+ yards for Jones. Falcons win.

DILLEY: The Falcons have been pretty special so far and the Saints have, well, sucked (apart from against my beloved Cowboys, typically). I reckon it’ll be closer than it probably should be, but Falcons all day for me. Falcons win.

Bengals @ Bills (Sky Sports 2 HD, Sunday 17:30)

STICKS: Boom, crunch time for the Buffalo Bills as they host the unbeaten Cincinnati Bengals. Personally I’m going to be looking at how the Bills offense handles the loss of Tyrod Taylor who despite his 3INTS vs NE has played pretty well this season. It’ll be interesting to see how EJ Manual leads this team but I can see the Bengals offense, lead by my ginger brother, overpowering them. Cincinnati to win.

DILLEY: The Bills don’t seem to know what sort of team they want to be. I mean sure they’re a Rex Ryan team so we know they won’t be particularly well disciplined, but apart from that it’s a mystery what we’re going to get. The Bengals on the other hand look like they could finally be about to break out in a big way, especially the way the rest of the AFC North are floundering. Bengals win.

Broncos @ Browns

STICKS: The 5-0 Broncos have been carried by their number 1 ranked defense this year. Peyton Manning has 4INTs to only a single TD in his last two games and they were wins to the Raiders and the Vikings. Will the old man bounce back against the Browns? I doubt it. I can see him throwing an INT again in this one but throw for 2 TDs in another close game, but I’m going to go with a Browns win here as Josh McCown is looking hot with over 1000 yards in his last 3 games. Browns to win and end Denver’s unbeaten streak.

DILLEY: I want to get behind Cleveland I really do. There’s just something I really like about them but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Anywho, can I go against Peyton and the Broncos, despite him having a decidedly average year this year? No I can’t, but thanks to that defense. Broncos win.

Bears @ Lions

STICKS: Both teams have struggled this year with a tough schedule and then both losing to Seattle and Arizona, but Chicago have the better record of the two thanks to two wins by less than 2 points. At 0-5 it doesn’t seem to get any easier for Detroit who are yet to face Green Bay in the division so they’ll probably want to aim for next year’s first pick in the draft. Can see this being a shocker of a game, though a couple TDs from Matt Forte will edge this one. Bears to win.

DILLEY: To say the Lions have been awful this year is putting it mildly, though to be fair the Bears haven’t been much better. Last week’s win against the Chiefs should have given them a big confidence boost, and that’ll be enough. Bears win, but it’ll be bowling show ugly.

Texans @ Jaguars

STICKS: Two 1-4 teams battle it out for their second wins of the season this week. With 2 different QBs this season the Texans somehow still have the 4th best passing attack in the league due to having DeAndre Hopkins who has emerged as the undisputed number one go-to guy in Houston with Andre Johnson’s departure. Blake Bortles was sacked 6 times last week and I don’t see it getting easier for him against JJ Watts’ big D. I see Hopkins having another big game as Houston pick up their second win of the season here. Texans win.

DILLEY: These two are so bad it’ll probably be the best game of the week. Whoever loses will go 1-5 and all but knock them out of the post-season already, and I’ve got a sneaky feeling that despite Houston’s passing game the London Jags will dig out a win at home. Jags win.

Chiefs @ Vikings

STICKS: The Chiefs have had a slow start to 2015 with big games against the Packers, Bengals and the Broncos. With Jamaal Charles out for the season with an ACL tear I can’t see their 18th-ranked rushing attack looking any better in the coming weeks. They will travel to the 2-2 Vikings who have been carried by the return of AP. They boast the 2nd ranked rush attack and the worst passing attack so look for them to continue to lean on AP against a top-middle ranked rush defense in Kansas City. Home field advantage, Vikings to win.

DILLEY: The 1-4 Chiefs were struggling enough as it was, but losing Charles for the season is a hammer blow for them. The Vikings meanwhile look like they’ve got AP almost back to his best, and he’ll be enough to put even more pressure on Andy Reid and his glorious ‘tache. Vikings win.

Redskins @ Jets

STICKS: As a fan of Gang Green I can’t really sway against them here. On paper they look similar, The Redskins have had some close games (3 decided by a TD or less) but with the return of pro bowl defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson being added to the 2nd ranked defense of the Jets I can see this being a long night for Kirk Cousins and company (who has a 5-6 TD-INT ratio). The number-one takeaway team will get 3 INTs and a fumble recovery on the night. Jets win.

DILLEY: There’s no way I can pick the Redskins to win, regardless of who they’re playing or what’s going on. Jets to win by 150, and RG-3rdString to go down with a hand injury whilst checking the temperature of the water for the backups. Jets win.

Cardinals @ Steelers

STICKS: Boasting an impressive 38 points a game the Cards are certainly looking to be a threat in the off season should they keep all their playmakers healthy. CJ2K seems to be back to his old self and has accumulated over 400 yards on the ground so far and with Carson Palmer and Fitz on the same page, this offense will be looking to put up even more points against a mid-table Pittsburgh defense. Big Ben was limited in practice so it’ll be interesting to see if him or Vick will get the start this Sunday. The match up of Antonio Brown and Patrick Peterson will be good to watch and should he be locked down look for Le’Veon Bell to get a lot of carries and passes out of the back field. I can see the Steelers putting up a fight but the Cardinals will simply outscore them. Arizona to win by 2 TDs.

DILLEY: The Cardinals the best team in the NFC West, who’d have thought it? They’re on fire at the moment but I’ve got a nagging feeling that the Steelers will stop them in their tracks. Don’t ask me why, I’m prepared to look stupid on this but. Steelers win.

Dolphins @ Titans

STICKS: As a Jets fan I hate the Dolphins and as an Oregon fan I tolerate the Titans just cause I like Marcus Mariota. Both teams come into this week at 1-3 and will look to pick up their second wins of the season. With 1000+ yards in 4 games and 8TD to 3 INTs Mariota hasn’t had a bad start to his NFL career. After that first game where he destroyed Tampa Bay we were all excited by this guy’s talent but after the week 4 bye week he had a mediocre performance against the Bills. I see him having a decent game against the Fins who had a far from impressive performance against my Jets in London and throwing for 250+ yards and 2 TDs. On the flip side Ryan Tannehill didn’t have that bad of a start to the season but has fallen off in recent weeks. Will the bye week give him time to get some chemistry with his receivers and stop aiming at their feet? Titans number 1 pass D to spoil the party and add 2 more INTs to his collection this week. Titans win.

DILLEY: Meh. I’d be lying if I said I intended to watch a single second of this game, and in doing so have probably guaranteed it’ll be an absolute classic. This is a real toss of a coin for me. The Dolphins were bad at Wembley, real bad, but they’ve had their bye week to make improvements (Lord knows they need to) and that’s making me lean towards them. Head says Fins, but I’m going to go with the Titans.

Panthers @ Seahawks (Sky Sports 2 HD, Sunday 21:05)

STICKS: The two teams the have leaned on their rushing attacks this year and go head-to-head with equally as good rush defenses. Expect to see a lot of ground and pound at this one. Cam Newton hasn’t thrown for a ton of yards this year but hasn’t turned the ball over much, and used his rushing ability to stretch the defense and make him a player to account for in this one. Seattle have dealt with the loss of Beastmode Lynch in the shape of Thomas Rawls who’s put up over 300 yards in his last 3 games and continued to lead them to the number 1 rush attack in the league. We’ll see how the rookie deals with Luke Kuechly and Co this week but I feel like the 12th man comes to Seattle’s aid this week and they win in a game that is decided by less than a TD. Seattle win…barely.

DILLEY: Seattle have had the latest bandwagoners (is that a word? It is now) running for cover the last few weeks, and they’ll be smarting after the manner of their defeat in Cincy last week. That said, the 12th man will ride to the Seahawks’ aid and the Legion of Boom will finally, finally, start erm, booming. Seahawks win and Richard Sherman does the Superman pose.

Chargers @ Packers

STICKS: Two teams led by arguably two of the best QBs in the league, San Diego have the lesser record of the two (2-3) due to a less than average rushing attack. Both defenses are strong against the pass and I can see the Packers rushing attack led by Eddie Lacy – who had a less than impressive performance last week against St Louis – bounce back here as Rodgers steers the Pack to 6-0. Packers win.

DILLEY: You don’t bet against the Pack at Lambeau, you just don’t. The Packers will win, but it’ll be close.

Ravens @ 49ers

STICKS: These two teams a few years ago played each other in the Super Bowl. Now they both sit at 1-4. Both teams have had difficult starts to their 2015 campaign and will look to bounce back here in week 6. Joe Flacco continues to throw for ok numbers but his 5 INTs have not helped the Ravens whose first 5 games have been decided by a TD or less. Colin Kaepernick on the other hand has had a less than impressive start to the season. Looking to forget THAT game against the Cardinals a few weeks ago look at the 49ers to lean on his rushing ability along with Carlos Hyde. Both teams have less than impressive defenses these days and should Steve Smith Sr play look to Flacco having a big day in the air and Carlos Hyde to have a big day on the ground. Ravens to win purely from outscoring the 49ers O.

DILLEY: From Super Bowl to toilet bowl in three short seasons, this was the sort of the game you’d look forward to all week a few years ago. Not so much now, mind. Baltimore’s defense isn’t scary any more, but Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers offense is, and not in a good way. I honestly haven’t got a clue which way this one will go. The Cowboy in me says back the Ravens, so there we go. Ravens win.

Patriots @ Colts (Sunday Night Football – Sky Sports 2 HD, Monday 00:30)

STICKS: Deflategate Mk II. Tom Brady and Co travel with their number 1 ranked pass attack vs the Colts’ 4th worst pass defense. With a heap of injuries on the Colts’ side including Andrew Luck who is questionable, you can’t help but agree that the Pats will tear them a new one this week. Tom Brady to pass for 4 TDs and the O to score over 40 points, and Andrew Luck and the Colts to fall to 3-3 and somehow still stay top of the AFC South and in a play-off position .Pats win.

DILLEY: Darth Belichick must be licking his lips looking at the Pats schedule at the moment. The Jags are as close as a bye as you’re going to get without taking your boots off, Dallas had more injuries than you could shake a stick at last week, and now they roll into Indy with Andrew Luck still questionable. They’d beat them again with him, but they’ll definitely beat them without him. Pats win by a country mile.

Giants @ Eagles (Sunday Night Football – Sky Sports 2 HD, Monday 00:30)

STICKS: MNF presents a big NFC East clash between two teams who only have a win and a loss to separate them in probably the closest division in the NFL. The Eagles beat the Jets this season and the Giants are our noisy lodger in New York so I don’t like either of these two teams. At 3-2 and 2-3 and at opposite sides of the NFC East this game will either extend the gap in an already tight group or equal their records and make it even tougher for a play-off position come the start of ’16. Was interested to see how one of last year’s stand out players DeMarco Murray would cope in this fast-paced Eagles offense but at 2.7 yards a carry he’s been a total flop. Add Sam Bradford who’s had 6 INTs in 5 games and you’ve got an offense that needs to improve. On the other side, Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr have been a nightmare for opposing defenses. This will be a battle of two pass heavy offenses and with two equally bad pass defenses look at a big play or two to decide this one. Giants to win this one in a shoot-out.

DILLEY: Please join me as as frantically look through the rulebook to see if there’s any way both of these teams could lose. The Giants look like they’re getting their stuff together and are on three-game winning streak, whereas the Sheagles don’t know if they’re coming or going (unless it’s DeMarco Murray, in which case he’s well and truly going backwards). It’s a big divisional game in front of a massive TV audience, and the locals will be getting restless by the end of the first quarter if things aren’t going Chip Kelly’s way, but I think they’ll pull out the win and make the tight NFC East even tighter, before Messrs Romo and Bryant come riding to the rescue for Dallas in a few weeks. Eagles win, somehow.

In our fourth Head to Head of the season Running Back Matt Duffin took on Running Back Coach Neil Duffy. Here’s how they got on…

Colts 27 Texans 20

DUFFIN: Matt was pretty bullish about this one and said that the Colts would win by 16. He got the outcome right but there was only one score in it in the end. 1-0.

DUFFY: Coach Duffy also correctly predicted a Colts win, but thought it would be closer than it was. He’s also 1-0.

Redskins 19 Falcons 25

DUFFIN:Just like the Colts/Texans game Duffin gets the winner right but over-eggs the winning margin, although only by three points this time. He goes 2-0.

DUFFY: Neil couldn’t see the ‘Skins breaking Atlanta’s unbeaten start to the season and he was right, although they ran them very, very close. He also goes 2-0.

Browns 33 Ravens 30

DUFFIN: Steelers fan Duffin doesn’t like either of these teams, and went with the Ravens based on home advtange. His first slip up of the week. 2-1.

DUFFY: The stats said thid would be close (they were right). Duffy thought the Ravens would pull out the win (he was wrong). 2-1.

Seahawks 24 Bengals 27

DUFFIN: Everyone appears to be waiting for the Seahawks to turn the corner and show the sort of form that has taken them to back-to-back Super Bowls. Duffin did the same, and the wait continues. He’s down to 2-2.

DUFFY: Steelers fan Duffy backed the Bengals despite how much it clearly pained him, and he was rewarded for his sacrifice. 3-1.

Rams 10 Packers 24

DUFFIN: “I think the Packers will dominate the Rams in every aspect of this game. Green Bay by two scores.” How about that for a prediction? 3-2.

DUFFY: “Packers comfortably” said our resident Viking. Yep, pretty much. 4-1.

Bears 18 Chiefs 17

DUFFIN: Duffin had no idea why he fancied the Chiefs. Maybe because the Bears have been awful Matt? Still, the Chiefs haven’t been much better, and they lost this close one. 3-3.

DUFFY: He reckoned it was going to be a high-scoring game as these were the two teams with highest average points against record, and the Chiefs would win. Wrong on both counts. 4-2.

Saints 17 Eagles 39

DUFFIN: Duffin didn’t think this would be a particularly exciting game, and it probably wasn’t if you’re a Saints fan. His call of a New Orleans win by 7 though? Yeesh. 3-4.

DUFFY: Oh Neil. If you’re going to go by the stats then go by the stats my man. The numbers told him the Eagles would win, but you knew better didn’t you? No. No you didn’t. 4-3.

Jaguars 31 Buccaneers 38

DUFFIN: By complete fluke, Duffin gets himself back to 4-4 by backing the Bucs.

DUFFY: Having gone for a tie, this is the game that could have made Coach Duffy look like an absolute genius. As it was, we very nearly had overtime and a very excited Irishman but alas, you know, the Jags. 4-4.

Bills 14 Titans 13

DUFFIN: Finally Duffin admitted he was completely guessing with this one, but miraculously he got it pretty much spot on to go to 5-4.

DUFFY: “Stats suggest it will be close game, but the Titans have had one big win against poor opposition and then two losses to weak or weakened teams, which inflates their stats, so Bills by 10. It was closer than that but you can’t argue with the workings out. 5-4.

Cardinals 42 Lions 17

DUFFIN: The Lions are terrible at the moment and the Cardinals haven’t looked this strong in years. Put those two things together and it’s no wonder Matt went for a road win. 6-4.

DUFFY: “Arizona by a large margin”. Ding. 6-4.

Patriots 30 Cowboys 6

DUFFIN: Duffin couldn’t have been more accurate with this one. Fairly one-sided it was, Pats by three scores it was. 7-4.

DUFFY: Duffy says to always bet on the team most likely to cheat, but the Pats didn’t even need to. He’s also up to 7-4.

Broncos 16 Raiders 10

DUFFIN: Denver spluttered their way to another win, which Mr Duffin thought would be by a larger margin. It matters not, he’s gone to 8-4.

DUFFY: You could tell Coach Duffy thought about siding the Raiders for a brief second, but he’ll be glad he didn’t. 8-4.

49ers 27 Giants 30

DUFFIN: Another guess by Duffin, and another chalked up to the W column as he backed the Giants. 9-4.

DUFFY: He probably didn’t think this would be as close as it was (I’ve seen his sums, he didn’t) but he backed the right horse in this remarkable game. 9-4.

Steelers 24 Chargers 20

DUFFIN: Our Pittsburgh fans were only ever going to pick the Steelers in Monday Night Football, and doing so leaves Duffin with a final record of 10-4.

DUFFY: His heart said Steelers, his head said Steelers and most importantly his stats said Steelers to also leave Duffy on 10-4.

So there we have it. This week’s Head to Head finishes in a 10-4 tie and as a result the Coaches and Staff lead after four rounds 38-23 to 35-26. It’s still all to play for, so be sure to check back on Thursday for this week’s predictions.
